Working draft · Technical review required

MOAS installation and startup

A proposed teaching sequence for technical review. Check each connection, action, and expected observation against the installed unit and current controlled instructions.

Technical review draft

This proposed sequence has not been approved for field use. Qualified installers and startup personnel must use current controlled instructions and the actual unit. Review the steps below before this draft is approved for field use as a technician procedure.

Part one · Installation overview

Follow the equipment and its connections

Begin outside the cabinet, then trace each building and duct interface. The scene is an illustrative layout; mounting details require the project drawings and a check of the physical unit.

  1. 01

    Choose a serviceable location

Show the MOAS cabinet and the separate external solution container. Staff need to hear the low-solution alarm, monitor the unit, and reach the container for refilling. The room shown in the model is an example, not a required room type.

  2. 02

    Coordinate building services

Identify the MOAS electrical supply, the exhaust-fan interlock connection, and the cold-water supply with its shutoffs. The fan-status connection enables the interlock; it does not mean the MOAS powers the exhaust fan. Qualified personnel must use the current project drawings for connections.

  3. 03

    Locate both duct nozzles

Show the two opposed nozzles in the exhaust duct, with airflow direction and access for inspection and monthly nozzle service. Confirm exact location, clearances, mounting hardware, and the duct interface against the applicable drawing and physical installation.

  4. 04

Trace the two nozzle supply paths

Follow the black compressed-air line and red mixed-solution line separately from the cabinet through their tees to both nozzles. Compare corresponding branch routes so one nozzle is not shown with a very different run from the other.

  5. 05

    Distinguish the reservoir connections

The external container has a solution pickup path to the injector and a separate pressure-sensing path to the low-solution switch. Neither is the red mixed-solution line going to the duct. Confirm the installed check valve and actual tube endpoints before depicting their detailed route.

Part two · Proposed startup sequence

Show each action and expected observation

The ten steps below are a proposed order for technical review. In particular, the first-fill and pump sequence must be confirmed before these become field instructions.

  1. 01

    Identify the two containers

Point out the external container that holds Odor Neutralizer Solution and the internal container that holds the water-and-solution mixture supplied to the liquid pump.

Look for: The installer can identify each container and its role.

  2. 02

    Check the reservoir connections

Trace the pickup line to the check valve above the injector and the separate sensing line to the low-solution pressure switch.

Look for: Both paths reach their intended physical connection.

  3. 03

    Prepare the solution supply

Add the approved solution to the external container at the starting level confirmed for this unit. Keep the pickup and sensing assembly in its installed position.

Look for: The external solution supply is ready; the starting quantity and alarm point still need review.

  4. 04

    Prepare the mixing-container float switch

Locate the float switch in the internal mixing container and remove the rubber band used for shipping. Confirm the float can move up and down.

Look for: The float moves up and down freely before powered operation.

  5. 05

    Make cold water available

Identify the building shutoff and the red-handled valve in the cabinet. Verify their actual open positions and check accessible connections using the current installation instructions.

Look for: Cold water is available to the controlled solenoid and injector, with no observed leakage.

  6. 06

    Enable the startup check

Confirm the exhaust-fan interlock permits MOAS power, then turn on the top cabinet power switch. Check that the IDEC smart relay display illuminates, and make sure the operation-mode toggle switch is in the Manual position. Manual bypasses scheduling; the external interlock still must permit power.

Look for: The IDEC display is illuminated and the compressor operates under the required conditions.

  7. 07

    Observe the first mixing fill

Review the described sequence: a low float calls for fill, a timer delays the solenoid, water passing through the injector draws solution, and the rising float stops filling. Whether a complete initial fill must precede pump startup remains a review decision.

Look for: The internal mixture level rises and filling stops at the intended level.

  8. 08

    Start the liquid pump

After the required fill, priming, and minimum-liquid conditions have been confirmed, operate the pump at the setting approved for the installed unit. The pump draws from the internal mixing container and feeds the red nozzle line.

Look for: The pump runs and mixture is delivered toward the nozzles.

  9. 09

    Verify nozzle delivery and refill

Using approved inspection access, check delivery at both nozzles and observe a subsequent float-controlled refill and shutoff. Resolve an absent mist, failed shutoff, leak, or active low-solution alarm before handoff.

Look for: Both nozzles deliver the approved mist and the refill cycle stops as intended.

  10. 10

    Confirm normal operation and handoff

Confirm the controller clock and cooking periods, final operating mode, alarm response, and operator handoff against the current approved instructions. Record the actual settings and startup observations.

Look for: The technician and operator know when the unit should run and how to obtain support.

Two different level controls

The external container’s pressure-sensing path governs the low-solution warning. The float switch in the internal mixing container governs refill. Adequate external solution pressure opens the used alarm path; low pressure closes it and can activate the buzzer and red light when control power is available.

Before release

Technical decisions to settle before release

These questions determine the final technician wording. No timer number, switch position, pump setting, or acceptance threshold should be inferred from the illustrative material.

  • Confirm the current manual and drawing revision, installed unit configuration, nozzle location, and final mounting sequence.
  • Confirm the starting solution quantity, low-solution alarm point, approved alarm test, and response to an active alarm.
  • Identify the installed timer and selected delay against the current drawing; earlier records give conflicting ranges.
  • Settle the exact water, power, Manual, and pump order, including whether the first fill must complete before pump operation.
  • Provide pump priming and setting, acceptable mist and fill observations, fault responses, and the final controller schedule and operating mode.
