PCU Product Brochure · Rev B, October 2026

Filter smoke and grease before they leave your kitchen.

Molitron’s Pollution Control Unit (PCU) is a UL Listed stainless-steel filter unit that installs in your kitchen exhaust duct, between the hood and the fan. Three dry filter stages capture smoke particulate and grease vapor, with no water, pumps or chemicals.

The Molitron PCU, model EPFA-84: a stainless-steel enclosure with three access doors, the orange pre-filters visible through the braced inlet, and the controls enclosure at the outlet end.

  • 3dry filter stages
  • 1,800–10,800CFM across 11 models
  • 304stainless steel, fully welded
  • UL 8782Listed, File MH45752

Smoke and cooking odor from a kitchen exhaust can become a neighborhood nuisance, and visible emissions can draw attention from local authorities. The PCU treats the exhaust inside the duct, before it reaches the fan and the open air.

01

Three stages, one direction.

Exhaust from the hood enters the PCU and passes through three banks of filters in turn, pre-filters first, before it reaches the fan.

  • Grease
  • Smoke particulate
  • Cooking odor

  1. F1

    Pre-filter MERV 9

Multi-pocket pre-filters are the first bank the exhaust meets, catching the larger particles and grease.

  2. F2

    High-efficiency filter MERV 14

Multi-pocket high-efficiency filters capture the fine smoke particulate and grease vapor that pass the pre-filter.

  3. F3

Final stage MERV 14 or carbon

A second high-efficiency bank, or optional carbon filters when odor treatment is part of the project. Carbon replaces F3; it does not add a fourth stage.

The PCU with its access doors off: orange pre-filters in F1, then green high-efficiency filters in F2 and F3.

Easy to live with.

A status panel in your kitchen or office tells your staff when the filters need attention. Tap a light to see what it means.

  • Every four weeks, inspect and service the filters.
  • Blinking red means service now, whatever the date.
  • Replacement filters come from Molitron, matched to the originals.
  • Cleaning is a steam clean of the stainless interior.

The exhaust fan is on.

Normal running. Nothing to do but keep to the four-week filter inspection.

Green: the exhaust fan is on. Blinking red: service is needed now; inspect and replace grease-laden filters.
